COVERED BRIDGES OF BEDFORD COUNTY

Bedford County is graced with 14 covered bridges, all 100 years old or more. Handcrafted, these bridges range in length between 56 - 136 feet and are located throughout the county. This self-guided journey can cover as many bridges as you would like and will give you the opportunity to see some of the county’s beautiful countryside. Maps are available in the Tally Ho Sport Shop.

SKIING AND SNOW TUBING

During the winter months, visit Blue Knob All Seasons Resort for some winter fun. Located only 35 minutes from Omni Bedford Springs Resort, Blue Knob is the highest skiable mountain in Pennsylvania and offers the most challenging and longest ski trails in the state. Activities include skiing, snowboarding, a tubing park and cross-country skiing. In the warmer months, golfing and hiking are big attractions.

TRAP SHOOTING 

Trapshooting is a specific form of clay target shooting; it is a game of movement, action and split-second timing. Trapshooting requires the accuracy and skill to repeatedly aim, fire and break the 4.25 inch discs that are hurled through the air at a speed of 42 mph, simulating the flight path of a bird fleeing a hunter. Great for beginners, as well as expert shooters.

WHITEWATER RAFTING

Available Monday-Sunday off-site in the  Laurel Highlands, at the Youghiogheny River. 

Rafting Level I-II 

The calm and scenic Middle Youghiogheny Class I and II rapids ar a great introduction to whitewater rafting. By paddling the gentle waters of this nine mile section of river, you'll enjoy the unending beauty and wildlife of the Laurel Highlands.

Includes a deli lunch. Suggested minimum age of 4; 3 – 5 hours long. Max 6 people (not including guide).

Rafting level III-IV

Enjoy the beauty and sheer excitement of the Lower Youghiogheny River. The 7.5 miles of Class III and IV rapids will challenge and excite, but not intimidate even the novice rafter. Highly trained and professional staff will guide you through and exciting experience you will not forget.  

Includes a deli lunch for fully guided tours and a snack for guide escorted. Suggested minimum age of 12; 2 – 6 hours long. Max 6 people (not including guide)

Drive Time: 90-minutes, check in at 11:00 a.m. for guide escorted and 9:00 a.m. for fully guided tours.

Rafting Level V 

Some call this section of the Youghiogheny River the ultimate challenge. with the Miracle Mile dropping off over 115 feet per mile, you will be part This tour has a "Miracle Mile" dropping over 115 feet/mile and is the most exhilarating experience available. Because of the challenging nature of this section of river, everyone participates in the adventure. 

Previous rafting experience strongly recommended. We use specially designed self-bailing, four-person rafts with foot stirrups to help you tackle the technical Class IV and V rapids. One guide and three guests are in each raft, with only our most experienced guides accompanying you on this tour. 

Includes a hot lunch. Minimum age of 16; 3 – 7 hours long. Guide is in the raft. Max 3 people (not including guide). 

Drive Time: 90-minutes
