The Virginia Wine Experience
Long recognized for outstanding culinary offerings, The Omni Homestead Resort & Spa features the Virginia Wine Experience. Located near the resort’s grand Dining Room, the Virginia Wine Experience focuses solely on the wines of the Commonwealth, showcasing the history of winegrowing in Virginia from the founding of Jamestown in 1607 through today.
Here, guests can select from distinct wine flights or wines by the glass at the Tasting Parlor, with bottles available for purchase. Each month, a prominent Virginia winery is profiled, and guests have the opportunity to meet with the winery owner/vintner and enjoy an exclusive, private dinner which will be complemented with wines from the featured winery.
The Virginia Wine Experience offers ongoing special events, educational seminars, and tastings of some of Virginia’s most limited and unique wines.
The Tasting Parlor
Enjoy our thoughtfully curated white wine, red wine, reserve wines and unique and interesting wines. Each flight includes a tasting of five wines. Enhance your experience with our cheese and charcuterie board. Reservations are not required.
Events
Monthly Wine Weekends
Each month, we will feature a different winery and the opportunity to learn more about the wines and vintners.
September's Featured Winery: Muse Vineyards
Flight Menu | $45
‘22 Thalia | This wine is a rich blend of the Rhône Valley white grapes Marsanne and Roussanne. It is fermented and undergoes malolactic conversion in French barrels where it is aged sur lees for one year to produce a complex, layered wine of depth and balance.
‘23 Rosé | This wine was made from Muse’s youngest French-certified Cabernet Franc vines to give it a fresh, bright red fruit profile. You will find hints of strawberries in the wine bouquet. Crushed, destemmed and cold soaked to extract a pale salmon color this wine has a “grip” and presence lacking in rosés made from inferior and often over-cropped grapes without real substance
‘ 21 Nebbiolo | Nebbiolo is a grape that originates in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Like the famous Barolo and Barbaresco wines famously associated with this grape, Muse Vineyards’ version is medium bodied with tastes of raspberry and spice. Aging two years in new and neutral French oak has given this wine a fine finish with beautifully integrated tannins. You can enjoy it now or lay it down for a few more years to develop and soften.
‘20 Cabernet Sauvignon | This Cabernet Sauvignon is more like French than California Cabs. It is a nicely balanced, food-friendly wine. It was aged for 28 months in French oak barrels and is ready to drink now or keep in the cellar for a few years. Sharp, deep, and dark berry with a slightly herbal, almost resinous edge.
‘21 Cabernet Franc | This is a plush wine of depth and complexity from a great vintage. Aged for over two years in French barrels this Franc is a tribute to the gentle marriage of fine-grained oak and red wine. Its tannins are well-integrated and frame the wine perfectly. Its flavors meld and flow seamlessly. A wine to think about while drinking, as it will insistently remind you.
